Welcome to my first Free tutorial!
I hope you enjoy it! This tutorial is a step by step mixed media collage making fun mushrooms and a beautiful queen with acrylic inks, collage, paint pens and more. Materials I used will be in the links below:) But feel free to use anything you have on hand!
materials list
Daler Rowney acrylics inks- Olive Green and Paynes Grey
I also used Dr. Ph Martins 'Aqua' but i can’t find it sold separate. I don't actually recommend the set so I would suggest you choose an aqua from FW Daler Rowney or Liquitex
Watercolor Paper 300g/140lb. (9”x12”)
Mixed Media Refillable Marker Pens (you can put ink in these)
White Charcoal or Pastel Pencil
Fine Precision Scissors (for cutting image)
Decoupage Paper (or anything you have on-hand)
Various gel pens of your choice- i like UniBall and Gelly Roll
Masking tape
Assorted paint brushes: angle, round, fine
Water soluble pencil or gray paint watered down for stumps
Onto the image!
Our queen
For this project, I sized the image down to 3 x 5cm; heightened her contrast, and increased the brightness using PhotoFox (on iPhone). Otherwise she was just too dark. I also flipped the image. Right click the image and choose “save as” to save a local copy.

Mushroom Inspiration
Time to be a kid again and start drawing mushrooms!
Queen of her own little world: THE tutorials
Part 1
In this first part I will be introducing you to the materials and planning and sketching the mushrooms. Next onto the inking of the tops!
Part 2
In part two we finish up the mushrooms and their stumps and get our queen collaged on. Don’t forget to spray the image with the fixative first!
Part 3
In the finale we have fun with paint pens, gel pens and micron pen putting the finishing touches on the mushrooms with playful dots and line work and add a little more golden shine to the queen. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and I would love to see your work on Facebook, IG or message me!
